Top 10 Financial Stocks To Invest In Right Now

At the start of my Real Money Portfolio, I want to address a few key points. I knew that my first pick had to be a company that could be the cornerstone of my portfolio and generate income through dividend payments along with the potential for growth in share price. Global diversification is also a key tenet that I have my eye on. The final criterion that I want to build around is value. When screening for these qualities, Vale S.A. (NYSE: VALE  ) leapt out at me.

It's no secret that mining companies rely on worldwide growth for their success. With all of the worries permeating the globe these days, there is no shortage of reasons why companies like Vale have struggled over the past two years. During this time frame, this Brazilian giant has fallen nearly 50% on the New York Stock Exchange. The demand for its mined products like iron ore pellets, coal, and base metals just hasn't materialized like it did following the 2008 financial collapse. Because of this, Vale is now trading at just 1.15 times its book value. With a stable dividend yield north of its peer group, that's a rock-bottom price.

As it turns out, many e-cig start-ups and even tobacco industry giant Lorillard (NYSE: LO  ) have infringed on these patents, possibly due to their rush getting e-cig products to market. So, six months on from closing the deal with Dragonite, Fontem Ventures, backed by Imperial Tobacco, has filed nine lawsuits in a federal court, asking the court to rule that the patents infringed were valid, and the defendants should pay as-of-yet unspecified damages. The companies Imperial is taking to court are Lorillard, NJOY, Vapor Corp., VMR Products LLC, Ballantyne Brands LLC, CB Distributors, Spark Industries LLC, Logic Technology Development LLC, FIN Branding Group LLC, Victory Electronic Cigarettes Corp. (NASDAQOTH: ECIG  ) , and DR Distributors LLC. So, it would seem as if Imperial is intending to kill off the majority of its competition before many of them can even get much of a foothold in the market.

Gap's June Comps Rise - Analyst Blog

Gap Inc. (GPS) reported comparable-store sales (comps) increase of 7% for the 5 weeks ended Jul 6, 2013 compared with flat comps results registered for the 5 weeks ended Jul 7, 2012, driven by strong performances at its namesake Gap and Old Navy stores. Moreover, net sales totaled $1.53 billion for the 5 weeks ended Jul 6, 2013, up 8% from sales worth $1.41 billion for the 5 weeks ended Jun 30, 2012.

The difference in the year-ago period comparisons for comps and net sales is primarily due to the inclusion of an additional week in fiscal 2012.

Global brand-wise, comps performances at Gap Global were up 5% compared with a 3% fall in the prior-year period, while comps at Old Navy were up 13% compared with a 1% increase recorded in Jun 2012. However, comps at the company's Banana Republic stores registered a fall of 1% versus an increase of 4% in June last year.

The improvement in comps and sales for June mainly resulted from favorable customer response to the company's clearance of summer assortments to make room for back-to-school merchandise.

Gap, which witnessed a phase of declining comparable-store sales and reduced profitability, is gradually returning to growth based on turnaround strategies as is evident from its solid comps and sales performances in fiscal 2013 so far.

Furthermore, in early June, Gap announced its plans for further global expansion with the opening of franchise and standalone stores in Paraguay, Hungary and Mexico. Apart from this, the company intends to extend its international operations to 8 Latin American countries, namely, Chile, Panama, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru and Brazil.

Gap has been progressing well with its long-term plans by reducing dependency on the North American specialty business, while increasing its online presence and expanding international operations. Gap aims to generate 30% of its total sales from overseas operations and online business in 2013 versus 27% in fiscal 2012.

Apart from G! ap, other retailers that came out with comparable-store sales data include, Zumiez Inc. (ZUMZ),Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) and Stein Mart Inc. (SMRT), which reported an increase of 1%, 6% and 6.5%, respectively, for the month of June.

Gap currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) and is scheduled to release its July sales results on Aug 8, 2013.

Advisors' Opinion:

Why is it that every time I try and defend a company that I feel good about, they go and do something frustrating for investors like dilute shareholder value? For the record, I am a fan of DryShips, Inc (DRYS), and have written several articles about the company, and the turnaround in the Dry Shipping industry. So was this a smart move or just another way that George Economou has used the company as a way to rob share holders of value?

Another way for investors to play the robotics industry is a new exchange traded fund, Robo-Stox Robotics & Automation (symbol: ROBO). The ETF owns a basket of robotics and automation stocks. One major caution, though, is that not all the stocks in the ETF are those investors traditionally think of when it comes to robotics. The largest weighting is in 3D Systems, a maker of a 3D printer, and Faro Technologies, which makes measurement devices. But none of the stocks in the ETF account for more than 4% of the total value, so the diversification helps give investors a way to play the speculative industry.

Top 10 Internet Stocks To Own For 2015

Top 10 Internet Stocks To Own For 2015: CYNK Technology Corp (CYNK)

Cynk Technology Corp., formerly Introbuzz, Inc., is a development stage-company. The Company intends to develop a social network business. Social networks are Web based services that allow individuals to post a profile and link their profile to other friends and organizations.

The Company intends to develop a database of professional and other business persons, as well as other interested persons in providing and utilizing contacts. As of November 14, 2012, the Company had not generated any revenue.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By WWW.DAILYFINANCE.COM]

CYNK Technology (CYNK), the mysterious over-the-counter stock that at one point broke a $6 billion market cap, dropped roughly 80 percent in its first trades after a Securities and Exchange Commission halt. The SEC halted CYNK for two weeks following a massive rise in the stock's value -- it had been worth only a few cents per share in June, but it jumped above $21 on July 10. The Belize-based CYNK Technology supposedly operates a social networking site, but filings indicate it only has one employee and virtually no assets. Experts told CNBC the week of the SEC halt that they expected CYNK to fall precipitously after reopening, and its first day of trading is proving those predictions correct. When it was halted, the stock was worth just less than $14 per share, and is now below $3 a share after briefly hovering around $5 earlier Friday morning. An OTC Markets spokeswoman told Reuters that CYNK's shares were not trading on its platform, but were occurring over the phone. Earlier this week Reuters reported that OTC's CEO did not expect CYNK to trade on its platform at all after reopening, as no brokerages would file the required paperwork for the stock to trade on their exchanges. An SEC spokesman said that the organization cannot comment on the status of a company after a suspension period ends, citing an online explanation of the proc! ess. That document notes that broker-dealers may not solicit investors to trade the previously suspended OTC stock until they satisfy several regulatory requirements. The SEC warned, however, that "unsolicited" trading may occur after a reopening -- as CYNK is now seeing -- but "even though such trading is allowed, it can be very risky for investors without current and reliable information about the company."

    Falling behind
If there's a lesson for companies to learn here, it's that consistency means a lot to consumers. If everything is going crazy, we often turn to the familiar to comfort ourselves -- and shopping is no different. Contrast the success that Gap and Costco have had with the lackluster flatlining over at L Brands (NYSE: LTD  ) . The company had no change in comparable in-store sales in June, and online sales of Victoria's Secret fell 9%. L Brands has had a hard time keeping customers interested, and its comparable sales have been up and down as a reflection. Because it has had seasonal flops, it's been forced into promotional activity that throws consumers off, and as a result, it can't give its customers the experience that they expect.

The financial crisis bought an end to the takeover activity, but as the industry has recovered and valuations have stabilized we should once again see the former thrifts become too tempting for growth-starved larger banks to ignore. It is a worthwhile exercise to look at some older thrift conversions that may be beyond their “sell by” dates.

Hot Electric Utility Stocks To Buy For 2014

LONDON -- It's seemingly been a good start to 2013 for funeral services provider Dignity (LSE: DTY  ) , which saw an 11% increase in revenue to just shy of 68 million pounds. This in turn led to a 16% rise in operating profit to 25 million pounds.

This reason for this recent surge is being attributed to the number of deaths being approximately 7% higher than the same period in 2012. It is, however, anticipated that the number of deaths will normalize over the course of the year.

In terms of company growth, the last quarter also saw Dignity complete the acquisition of Yew Holdings, which will add a further 40 funeral locations and two crematoria to its roster. Aside from this, the group also added one further funeral location and seven satellite locations.

CEO Mike McCollum commented:

This is a good performance by the Group with the first quarter being ahead of our expectations. The integration of Yew Holdings is progressing well and the initial performance is encouraging. All three divisions of the business are performing strongly.

The Department of Defense awarded nine contracts worth a combined $239.5 million Monday. Among public companies, a few of the bigger winners included:

GE will supply the U.S. Navy with seven F414-GE-400 spare engines and multiple engine components for its F/A-18E/F fighter jets. This contract should be complete by November 2015. Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH  ) is a winner in a $30.9 million award under an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ), cost-plus-fixed-fee, multiple-award contract "for support of emerging navigation technologies for air and shipboard command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance system applications."The DoD's contract announcement said a second, unnamed contractor has won a similar award, and both awardees will now have to compete for individual task orders the Navy may put up for bid over the next three years. • [By Victor Selva] able to maintain a competitive position in the market, shows ATS麓s ability for great evolution and profitable growth.

Alliant also benefits from a narrow economic moat. Having long-term contracts with its customers, that generate consistent revenue for years, is a great advantage. The long-term programs have high switching costs for the customer. For example, ATK produced the composite materials for the Hellfire missile for years.

In addition, leading the solid rocket propellant market should ensure increased annual revenue. The new Space Launch System (SLS), for which ATK is working with the NASA, is expected be as successful as the Space Shuttle program years ago.

Most important, Alliant is the biggest supplier of small-caliber ammunition for the U.S. military. Furthermore, ATK has managed to get new contracts in the U.S. military sector, such as the second full-rate production of the advanced anti-radiation guided missiles. This contract with the U.S. Navy was signed for a total of $102.4 million.

New Contracts and acquisitions should increase profitability

Alliant has developed a composite technology that brought in new customers such as Airbus Group NV (EADSY) and Boeing Co (BA). In addition, the company's composite material is required for the production of the F-35 jets. ATK produces around $1.8 million of the content in every F-35 jet that is constructed and generates $1.2 million worth of every A350.

Hot Electric Utility Stocks To Buy For 2014: Cheniere Energy Inc.(LNG)

Cheniere Energy, Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in the ownership and operation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminals and natural gas pipelines in the Gulf Coast of the United States. The company develops LNG receiving terminal projects on Sabine Pass LNG in western Cameron Parish, Louisiana on the Sabine Pass Channel; Corpus Christi LNG near Corpus Christi, Texas; and Creole Trail LNG at the mouth of the Calcasieu Channel in central Cameron Parish, Louisiana. It also involves in the oil and natural gas exploration and development activities; and LNG and natural gas marketing business. The company was founded in 1983 and is based in Houston, Texas.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By David Smith]

    Chilling out
As the U.S., with its vast new gas finds, moves toward liquefied natural gas production and export, anyone with a modicum of interest in energy knows about Cheniere Energy's (NYSEMKT: LNG  ) current construction of an LNG processing facility at Sabine Pass in southwestern Louisiana. But a couple of other approaches to liquefaction are about to make a big difference in LNG processing.

  • [By Tyler Crowe]

Still, there are a few advantages the U.S. has in the race to capture LNG market share. We are the only country that is producing shale gas in commercial amounts, and a few companies have already started construction on export terminals.Cheniere Energy (NYSEMKT: LNG  ) will become the first LNG exporter approved to ship to countries that aren't members of a free trade agreement. With contracts for its first two LNG trains locked in for the next 20 years,Cheniere is primed for solid gainsonce the initial LNG trains start chugging in the first half of 2015. Be sure toread all the details in this premium research report.

  • [By Matt DiLallo]

Right now, though, the debate is purely economic. That's one reason onlyCheniere Energy (NYSEMKT: LNG  ) has been permitted to export natural gas to non-Free Trade Agreement countries. The company recently noted that its first two export trains are ahead of schedule, meaning it should begin exporting by second half of 2015. So while Cheniere will be first to market, there are a number of companies with projects in the pipeline that want to join Cheniere, including, of course, ExxonMobil.

The company was founded in 1966 and is based in Riverton, Wyoming.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Roberto Pedone]

US Energy (USEG), an independent energy company, focuses on the acquisition and development of oil and gas producing properties in the continental U.S. This stock closed up 6.9% to $3.53 in Thursday's trading session.

    Thursday's Range: $3.29-$3.53

    52-Week Range: $1.45-$4.06

    Thursday's Volume: 116,000

    Three-Month Average Volume: 219,710

From a technical perspective, USEG bounced sharply higher here right off some near-term support at $3.27 and back above its 50-day moving average of $3.45 with lighter-than-average volume. This stock recently formed a triple bottom chart pattern at $3.32, $3.21 and $3.27. Since finding buying interest at those levels, shares of USEG are now spiking higher and moving within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade. That trade will hit if USEG manages to take out some near-term overhead resistance levels at $3.65 to $3.80 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in USEG as long as it's trending above some key near-term support levels at $3.27 or at $3.21 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 219,710 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then USEG will set up to re-test or possibly take out its 52-week high at $4.06. Any high-volume move above that level will then give USEG a chance to tag its next major overhead resistance levels at $4.60 to $5.

5 Best Blue Chip Stocks For 2015: Sunedison Inc (SUNE)

SunEdison Inc, formerly MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc., incorporated on October 1, 1984, is engaged in the development, manufacture and sale of silicon wafers. The Company is a developer and seller of photovoltaic energy solutions. Through Solar Materials and Solar Energy (SunEdison), it is a developer of solar energy projects. The Company operates in two segments: semiconductor materials and solar energy. The Company Solar Energy segment includes the operations of its old Solar Materials segment, as well as its SunEdison business. In the Semiconductor Materials, the Company offers wafers with a variety of features. The Company wafers vary in size, surface features, composition, purity levels, crystal properties and electrical properties.

Semiconductor Materials

The Company monocrystalline wafers for use in semiconductor applications range in size from 100 millimeter to 300 millimeter and are round in shape for semiconductor customers because of the nature of their processing equipment. Its wafers are used as the starting material for the manufacture of various types of semiconductor devices, including microprocessor, memory, logic and power devices. In turn, these semiconductor devices are used in computers, cellular phones and other mobile electronic devices, automobiles and other consumer and industrial products. Its monocrystalline wafers for semiconductor applications include four general categories of wafers: prime, epitaxial, test/monitor and silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers.

The Company prime wafer is a polished, pure wafer with an ultraflat and ultraclean surface. The Company epitaxial (epi), wafers consist of a thin silicon layer grown on the polished surface of the wafer. Typically, the epitaxial layer has different electrical properties from the underlying wafer. This provides customers with isolation between circuit elements than a polished wafer. Its AEGIS product is designed for certain specialized applications requiring high resis! tivity epitaxial wafers and its MDZ product feature. The AEGIS wafer includes a thin epitaxial layer grown on a standard starting wafer. The AEGIS wafer thin epitaxial layer eliminates harmful defects on the surface of the wafer, thereby allowing device manufacturers to increase yields. The Company supplies test/monitor wafers to its customers for use in testing semiconductor fabrication lines and processes. An SOI wafer is a different starting material for the chip making process.

Solar Energy

The Company Solar Energy segment provides solar energy services that integrate the design, installation, financing, monitoring, operations and maintenance portions of the downstream solar market to provide a solar energy service to its customers. As of December 31, 2012, SunEdison interconnected over 675 solar power systems representing 989 megawatt of solar energy generating capacity. In support of its downstream solar business, its Solar Energy segment manufactures polysilicon, silicon wafers and solar modules. Additionally, its Solar Energy segment will sell solar modules to third parties in the event the opportunity aligns with itsinternal needs. It provides its downstream customers with a way to purchase renewable energy by delivering solar power under long-term power purchase arrangements with customers or feed-in tariff arrangements with government entities and utilities. Its SunEdison business is dependent upon government subsidies, including United States federal incentive tax credits, state-sponsored energy credits and foreign feed-in tariffs. The Company solar wafers are used as the starting material for crystalline solar cells.

The Company competes with Shin-Etsu Handotai, SUMCO, Siltronic and LG Siltron, SunPower Corporation, First Solar, Inc., Enerparc, Sharp Corporation (Recurrent Energy), Phoenix Solar, BELECTRIC, JUWI Solar Gmbh, and S! olar City! .

The slightly better businesses are currently more expensive in terms of price/NCAV. They have less asset-based downside protection, but they are better businesses.

How do you quantify and qualify what is cheap enough? To me, there's a big difference in relative cheapness in a company selling at 74% of NCAV versus one selling at 95%. I'm wondering if I'm putting too much weight on this cheapness measurement instead of acknowledging that any decent business selling at less than NCAV is cheap enough. Yet, one has to have some quantifiable idea of when something is not cheap enough anymore.

Can you help me put this into a unified framework?
